CASTING

We are casting for a number of roles for our much much loved traditional pantomime DICK WHITTINGTON BY HARRY LUTY

Auditions/Location:   Last week in September at Salford Arts Theatre

Rehearsals:  November at Salford Arts Theatre

Performances: 3rd December  - 31st December (46 shows) Over the contract there are 6 full days off and Sunday evenings.We do have a number of 3 show days usually Saturdays and when we have school shows.

Paid Opportunity: £2500 (subject to change once all shows have been confirmed therefore may go up)

ROLES WE ARE CASTING   - all actors will need to be able move well and sing

Alice Fitzwarren:(Female) Triple threat role Playing age 20-25

The leading female and love interest. Daughter of Alderman Fitzwarren and the apple of his eye. Also the object of Dick’s desires. Quite resourceful and feisty! Looking for a triple threat performer.

Idle Jack:( Male)   Playing age 25 - 35

The Simple Simon / link man character. Sarah’s good for nothing son. Lazy – fancies Alice. But Alice thinks of him as a brother. Good friend to all the children in the audience.  Looking for a strong comedy actor and ideally experience playing this kind of role.  Must be comfortable interacting with the audience.

Alderman Fitzwarren & Ratling:  Playing age 30 -50

(Male)   A rather foolish and muddled fellow. A London businessman and father of Alice.  Ratling role is one half of the comedy double act.  Strong character actor experience in role doubling.

King Rat/Captain:(Male or Female) Playing age 28 - 40

A rodent with grand plans  - the evil Babbie.  Strong presence and comedy skills required.  Traditional baddie role. Must be able to perform physical tasks (sword fighting) and interact with audience – elicit boo’s experience of this kind of role and or audience interaction.  You will be required to sing so strong singing ability required.

Bosun/Ratling/Sheikh: (Male or Female) 25- 40

Strong multi role performer required with strong comedy timing required.  Other half to the comedy double act with the other ratling, Bosun work closely with the Captain.  The Sheikh is in one scene a bossy ruler good comedy chops needed.
