We Need To Talk About Brenda By Nichole BrownList Item 3
Saturday 10th May 7.30pm
'Since the age of 12, Lisa and Brenda have been inseparable—until now. We Need to Talk About Brenda is a darkly funny, sharp-edged comedy that tells the true story of Lisa and her battle with Brenda, the name she gives her diagnosis of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD). PMDD is a severe condition that affects 1 in 20 women and AFAB individuals, with symptoms often dismissed or misdiagnosed as depression or bipolar disorder. The result? Lisa’s life has been a constant struggle, as Brenda wreaks havoc on her mood, relationships, and mental health.
As Lisa faces the decision of a lifetime—saying goodbye to Brenda for good with a hysterectomy—the play unravels her witty, poignant reflections on the frustrations of being misunderstood and the emotional toll of living with PMDD.
Written with humor and sensitivity, this one-woman show gives a voice to a condition that impacts millions, bringing laughter and empathy to an important topic. Collaborating with the International Association of Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD), the production ensures Lisa’s journey is both authentic and respectful of the lived experiences of those battling PMDD.
We Need to Talk About Brenda is a moving, engaging show that blends comedy with heartfelt storytelling, offering a fresh perspective on women’s health.
Running time – approx 1hr (no interval)
Please note this event is advised for age 18+, contains strong language, sexual references and will mention suicide, suicidal thoughts and self harm.'

A Special Evening with Wild Billy Childish Poetry and The North Kent Folkways Revival
Thursday 29th May 8pm
Wild Billy Childish, cult British painter, writer and musician known musically for his raw blend of punk rock, garage, dustbin mod and blues that gained prominence in the late 1970s and early 1980s as the frontman of bands like The Milkshakes, Thee Headcoats, and later The Buff Medways.
In recent years, Childish has continued his musical odyssey recording a multiplicity (i.e. loads) of LPs under various guises including CTMF (Cunts Tossers & Mother Fuckers / Chatham Forts?) for primal punk garage, The William Loveday Intention’s improvements of Bob Dylan compositions, instrumentals with The Guy Hamper Trio featuring James Taylor, blues folk with The Chatham Singers and
collaborations with Medway folk(ist) band The Singing Loins that saw the birth of Childish’s newest outfit The North Kent Folkways Revival (NKFWR) connecting the sounds and stories of his local Kentish roots, melding folk traditions and instrumentation with his punk spirit.
Two studio albums by the NKFWR (’The Speech of Karatakus’ and 'Cape Trafalgar') were recently released by Childish’s own label Hangman Records via the L-13 Light Industrial Workshop

I Don't Wanna Play Anymore By Libby Hall
Monday 7th July & Tuesday 8th July 7.30pm
Performed by Salford Arts Theatre's Young Actors Company
Wouldn’t it be great if life came with an instruction manual? Some guiding principles. Like the Monopoly rulebook. Sometimes you need a wikihow on living life right.
‘I don't wanna play anymore’ tries to answer the questions we ask ourselves as we get older.
What should I be doing, who should I be doing it with and when should it all be done by????
Life is a game, but how do we play it? In a world where there are winners and losers, playing fair doesn’t always see you right. A roll of a dice can change everything.

Becky Fury: British-ish
Thursday 17th July 7.30pm
A **** comedy show about being British -ish
Award winning Becky Fury uses her identity as a mixed race UK born person to investigate what it means to be British - ish. British-ish is a fast paced hour which makes a serious and seriously silly effort to redefine Britishness, British historical figures and what makes Britain great.
Colonialism is also discussed as Becky’s family is Anglo Indian, a mixed race culture bred by the British to run the Raj. The British-ish of the title.
Many of the shows funniest moments come from Becky’s honest insight and story telling skills; discussing her experiences dealing with casual and not so casual rascism. This serious subject is dealt with Becky’s trademark mischievous humour and is a perceptive hot take on what is often a decisive and very current social issue.
If you can feel proud, for example, that the three lions were originally from Africa and have been clearly made to feel so at home here, then this is the show for you.

Happy As Pye Written and Directed PB Ware
Tuesday 22nd July & Wednesday 23rd July 7.30pm
Opposites don’t always attract!
When a rather serious and logically minded ‘Pye’ is thrown into confinement with a bouncy, bubbly and slightly unhinged ‘Happy’, the pair have little choice but to get to know each other better.
Join these two very different characters as they are forced to confront, not only each other, but perhaps even themselves.
Happy as Pye is abstract in style and invites the viewer to decide what is real and what is not.
This play delves into the minds of two surreal characters that hold very different outlooks on life. Or do they? These characters could just as easily be as one and only by hashing it out can they truly explore what it means, or doesn't mean, to be 'happy'!

OUTHAUS
Thursday 24th July 7.30pm
New Writing from Tenderfoot Theatre A drag queen and a mallard duck walk into a bar...
In the not-too-distant future of our concrete state, a prohibition on green space is in full swing.
With every park, field, and grass verge bought up by the bourgeoisie, one dilapidated public toilet houses nature’s speakeasy.
Welcome to Club OutHaus - an illegal underground haven for joggers, dog walkers, and ducks alike to relish in the benefits of nature in the shadows, tended to by the club’s cabaret stars. The story follows Magnolia (the glamourous drag queen), Durt Bag (the club’s Drag King MC), Gina (an aspiring singer and starlet), Kristoff the Mallard Duck (a circus performer) and Sunny (the club’s bartender) as they work together to keep the club open for those who need it, and out of the hands of the Green Police.
OutHaus is a 5-hander play that explores the rapid decline of green space access in the North West in a tongue-in-cheek, high-energy cabaret that brings together the magic of nature with the power of people. In 2020, Friends of the Earth released a report on England’s ‘Green Space Gap’ detailing the extent of green space deprivation in the UK – with many neighbourhoods in the North West ranking ‘E’ – a category reserved for areas that are most deprived of green space access. This project aims to reconnect communities in these category E areas with the magic of green space through a show that is fun, hilarious, high-energy and galvanising, equipping audiences with the tools to fight for access.
The play also explores sub-themes of the diminishing access to queer space and art space in the UK – with the OutHaus holding space for all three. It also seeks to hold space for the non-human stories taking place in our green spaces across the country, and the unique threats faced by our animal and insect friends.

Theatre show exploring the human price of innovation and hubris. It follows the story of Elliott Walton, a young researcher working on an AI project with her colleague Dr Michael Blomquist.
The pair are working on a technology that would theoretically upload somebody’s entire mind into an AI programme, with Elliott as the test subject. Suddenly, Elliott dies under mysterious circumstances, and Michael is accused of her murder - by the programme itself.
A dramatic court case ensues that uncovers misconduct, conflict and obsession, with both sides trying to shift the blame.
Is the programme lying? Or is Michael?

GEORGE THE CONCERT Featuring Nick Bold as George Harrison
Friday 19th September 7.30pm
Nick Bold’s George! is a spirited performance that is as close to what it was like to be at an actual George Harrison concert as you could ever imagine.
Manchester’s Nick Bold made his first mark on the music business in the 1980s as founding member, lead guitarist and principal songwriter for the British rock band Virginia Wolf.
The two hour plus performance is a tour de force that brings audiences to their feet with joy as Bold embodies the essence of Harrison with his virtuoso guitar playing and spot-on vocals. It’s all there, George’s biggest Beatles hits and all of his wonderful post-breakup solo material.
